Everyone’s going through it right now, again. Chances are, a person (or people) you know and care about aren’t living up to their best selves, for one reason or another. It’s easy to hide our faces and dive inward during these times, but we should always be looking out for those around us. It can be very tricky to find the best approach when looking to motivate someone to change or take action. Today, we talk about some of the best ways to go about it.
First, we need to understand that motivation is a byproduct of consistency. Once that is established, forming habits and cultivating motivation comes without trying. Second, don’t fall into the trap of taking the easy way out and simply telling someone to do something. It can be heard as nagging or otherwise disrespectful, which can have the opposite effect.
In this episode, I lay out some of the best tactics you can use, from modeling the behavior you want to see for them (let them see the benefits of the lifestyle changes you’re promoting and they’ll be more likely to follow your lead) to being a cheerleader.
A sense of accountability makes a huge difference in making long term changes, for anyone, and cheering on someone’s accomplishments (as well as reminding them of where they want to be) can make a big difference when it comes to keeping them on the right path.
