    229 | Distractibility

We are all more prone to be distracted right now. We are not in our normal habits, we are more likely to be using technology during the day, our schedules are different, and life, as we know it, has changed. There’s a sense of uncertainty that comes with that, and that makes us ripe for distraction.

I’ve been teaching online and spending much more time on technology than normal, as most of us probably are. In a moment of distraction, I reached out to Instagram and asked what people do when they are feeling distracted. We’re going to talk about some of the tips people shared for dealing with distraction and what’s worked for me personally.

228 | Breath and the Pelvic Floor | with Ashley Newton

Friend of the show Ashley Newton returns! Last time she joined the show, we had a fantastic discussion about pelvic health. But we got so much positive feedback from that episode that she just had to come back for more!

We also talk a lot about our breath. We often don’t think about the role breathing plays in our posture and movement, but it is part of your core. So, focusing on your breath can have a dramatic impact on your posture, your movement, and your joints.

When you talk about diaphragmatic breathing, you are looking at both the expansion of the abdomen forward and the backward expansion of the ribs and thoracic cage. Pay attention to how you are breathing in different postures, during functional tasks, and joint movement. You will need to work with a physical therapist to make sure these are all done properly.

It’s an odd time in the world. The pandemic of the coronavirus is keeping us all apart. We can’t always put a positive spin on things, but what we can do is learn to play the poor hand we’ve been dealt with well.

222 | From Wall Street to Healthy Content Creator | with the Freckled Foodie

I’ve known Cameron Rogers, also known as the Freckled Foodie, since she was just a teenager — and it’s been a pleasure to watch her grow into a lovely young woman who is a very successful and thriving entrepreneur!

Cammy talks all about why she left Wall Street to start creating content in the health and wellness space, what it was like taking the leap from her day job, how you can find mentors and peers to share with, and what it takes to work from home (as many of you may be forced to work from home for the first time right now).
