    Your questions:

    • After sitting with my knees bent for a while they hurt, and the pain goes away when straightening them. What’s going on and how can I correct it?
    • My right hip goes deeper into hip flexion and tilts anteriorly more than the left when I’m at a 90/90 low lunge. Where do I begin?

    • Do you have any rituals or traditions to bring in the new year?

337 | Just Breathe and Say Yes

With the increasing popularity of practices like mindfulness, yoga, and breathwork, people in the Western world are thinking about their breath more than ever — and more intentionally than ever. But not only is it necessary for life, the rhythm of our breath has countless effects on our bodies. We’re going to explore how your breath can be used to say “yes” more in your life.

Take a moment to ask yourself: What is one insight or lesson that I’ve learned this past week, month, or year? And what am I grateful for right now? And take a few deep breaths and think on that. This allows us to be present, to be clear, and to be reminded of the lessons of the past.

336 | Helping Individuals Grow in Their Own Backyards | with Simon Holloway

Simon Holloway is the sales and marketing director of Vegepod, a self-watering portable garden bed. Lara is a huge fan (she’s been using them a LOT this year), and they talk about how the business came about and what it’s like running a small business during the pandemic.

As they say, failure is the mother of invention. After several failed attempts at gardening, Simon’s business partner, Matt, built up a prototype in his backyard and systematically worked on addressing the biggest pain points in gardening.

Simon talks about how appearing on Shark Tank brought a huge boost to the business, why the product appeals more to seasoned gardeners than the inexperienced gardener, and the benefits of growing your own garden.

Welcome to Wednesday Q&A, where you ask questions and we answer them!

    Your questions:

    • Why do so many physios and other yoga teachers with more formal education disagree on modifications to traditional yoga poses to make them more optimal and safer for the general population?
    • Do you believe that foot problems can be reversed?
    • Women who always wear heels and find flats painful, did their fascia adjust and just bind up?
    • In yoga, the emphasis is on not going into more thoracic extension. Is that the goal?

    334 | Finding Balance

The essence of what I teach in the yoga world is the balance of Sthira and Sukha, or the hard and the soft.

We can apply this concept to our body and our movement, but we can also apply it to our mind. Where in your life do you need to firm up? Where do you need to soften? Because when we find this balance, we are at ease.
