  • 493. LOOSEN Up with a Different Kind of Resolution

Happy new year! It’s that time of year where we look to the future and make new year’s resolutions. The word “resolution” comes from the Latin “to loosen,” so I want to help you achieve your 2022 goals and ambitions with another acronym. Remember to L.O.O.S.E.N. and you’ll find embracing the year ahead that much easier!

First, the “L” is for “let go.” Drop your preconceptions and embrace the new.

The first “O” tells us to “operate from a full deck.”

The next “O” is a reminder to “open our minds.” Let’s make sure we’re fully ready to embrace our new potential.

“S” can stand for so many things: “sleep,” or “sweat,” or “sip,” or “snuggle.” This letter is our reminder not to neglect our physical needs.

“E” is for “execute.” We have to remember to actually put the things you want into place.

And, finally, “N” is for “new.” This can be a new year, a new you, or just embracing the concept of change in general.

Listen now and get ready for your best year yet! Remember, I’m always pulling for you.

  • 492. Using Daily Rituals To Take Your Yoga Practice Deeper with Kori Hahn

When Kori Hahn was twenty, she packed up everything she owned – which wasn’t much – and drove nonstop for seven days, ending up in Alaska. She lived off-grid and made her own way through life, which gave her a lifelong taste for living mindfully and slowing down.

From there, she began to travel extensively, leading her to Sri Lanka as of this conversation. Her exciting journey of passion and spontaneity, like a flower petal blowing in the wind, is one that can inspire us all.

Kori wanted to prove to the yogis of the world the importance of intuition. Rooted in that driving idea, she dove into the pursuit of writing a book, Rituals of the Soul. Through that process, she learned to redefine, for herself, what yoga is, and what it means to her.

She joins the podcast to share how you can use the eight principles of yoga to live a more balanced, meaningful life while cultivating a deeper connection to purpose.

  • 490. How to Help Motivate Others

Everyone’s going through it right now, again. Chances are, a person (or people) you know and care about aren’t living up to their best selves, for one reason or another. It’s easy to hide our faces and dive inward during these times, but we should always be looking out for those around us. It can be very tricky to find the best approach when looking to motivate someone to change or take action. Today, we talk about some of the best ways to go about it.

First, we need to understand that motivation is a byproduct of consistency. Once that is established, forming habits and cultivating motivation comes without trying. Second, don’t fall into the trap of taking the easy way out and simply telling someone to do something. It can be heard as nagging or otherwise disrespectful, which can have the opposite effect.

In this episode, I lay out some of the best tactics you can use, from modeling the behavior you want to see for them (let them see the benefits of the lifestyle changes you’re promoting and they’ll be more likely to follow your lead) to being a cheerleader.

A sense of accountability makes a huge difference in making long term changes, for anyone, and cheering on someone’s accomplishments (as well as reminding them of where they want to be) can make a big difference when it comes to keeping them on the right path.

  • 487. How to Be More Social

This might sound silly, but I think we’re all a little out of practice with our social skills right now. Being used to isolating ourselves during the pandemic, I’ve found that being at home all the time has made me feel more withdrawn in my social relationships. Even though I’ve been working and socializing with my team, it’s not the same. I think this is something most of us are going through.

In other words: we’re rusty. To help restart our social muscles, I have a handy acronym to help remember small ways we can help ourselves come out of these cocoons as social butterflies. Listen to this edition of Monday Motivation and learn how easy it is to become S.O.C.I.A.L. like we used to be!
