Personal Bio
My approach to teaching and practicing yoga has centered around the values of 1) Student Agency, 2) Sustainability, and 3) Functional Movement. Early in my yoga teaching journey, I was blessed to study under some amazingly knowledgeable and talented teachers that framed the experience of yoga as one of empowerment, enhanced well-being, and healing. My personal practice has deepened and evolved in a myriad of ways over the years, and my teaching has also expanded. I am a teacher in profession but most importantly I am a teacher at heart.
Before devoting myself to teaching yoga fulltime, I spent many years teaching for Washburn University and also served as fulltime faculty at Friends University in Wichita. Since completing my first 500-hour yoga teacher training in 2015, I have been a committed student of yoga, on and off my mat. My love for studying and learning has been an important catalyst to my personal yoga practice. In the fall of 2020, I found LYT Yoga and my asana practice was reinvigorated. LYT Yoga reinforced all the values around movement and teaching that were so impactful to me when I started down my personal path. I love that this aspect of my teaching has come full circle.
