Personal Bio

To teach is to connect. Following my own curiosity has revealed to me intersections between and among my varied interests. My experience as an educator over the past 15 years has deepened my knowledge and sharpened my expertise, but it has also created an insatiable desire to continue my own work as a student, constantly seeking and learning and growing.

Born and raised in Redding California, I moved to New Jersey in 2001 to pursue my Bachelors in Music Education at Westminster Choir College in Princeton. Upon graduating I began teaching music at thr middle and then elementary levels. In my role as an educator I have not only taught thousands of students but also led professional development workshops to hundreds of colleagues and well as mentoring novice teachers. While working on my Masters in Educational Leadership from TCNJ, I began to feel the need for more self care to manage the loads of teaching and learning full time, yoga was the answer. After a couple years of exploring various styles, I found Lara’s and it resonated because it was fun, functional, and rooted in science. In 2014 I completed my 200 and began my second teaching career at YogaStream. Knowing there was so much more to learn, I immediately began working on my 500 hour and completed it in 2018. Teaching is my passion. From small children to our wisest souls, I love working with and encouraging them to be the best version of who they are.

When I am not teaching, I will either be traveling or can be found at home with my husband Jim and our German Shepherds.
